One of the many benefits of building your new home is selecting the finishes, materials & colors for all aspects of it. Hand selecting each attribute allows you & your family to truly personalize your home. It is one of the most exciting steps in the process for our customers- but it can also be stressful! There are quite a bit of selections to make & with differing tastes it can be somewhat of a task.
Our designers will walk this process with you but it still helps to do a little prep work beforehand! We’ve got you covered though with three tips to help you prepare & make the selection process easier & less stressful for you!
Do some research
It helps to know what your like & don’t like before heading to select your colors. Spend some time beforehand looking at different options for both the interior & exterior of your home. New trends are popping up every day that you might want in your new home. Pinterest is a great place to search for possible color combinations & ideas.
Know your budget
Each neighborhood has a distinct set of standard features that ultimately affect the sales price of your home. In the event you’d like to upgrade some of the features of your home, you’ll want a firm budget in mind before you start selecting finishes & colors. Decide what is most important to you & select those finishes first.
Come alone
It is always best that the homeowner(s) be the sole deciding party in the color selection process. This will be your home, so your opinion & tastes are most important. As the old saying goes “too many cooks in the kitchen!” More voices & subsequently more opinions will make the process more stressful than it needs to be.
Keep these tips in mind when scheduling your color selection meeting for your new home!
