Pipe Crew: Pipe Runner
OVERVIEW:
Dryden Enterprises, Inc. is looking for experienced pipe crew laborers to join our team! Our development team consists of several people, including a pipe crew. A pipe crew has a pipe layer, hill man, and tail man.
- Pay ranges $18.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience
- Typical hours are 7am – 5pm, Monday to Friday
- Overtime hours available with supervisor's permission
JOB DUTIES:
- Prepare and stage pipe for storm drains, sanitary sewers, water and reclaim pipelines
- Assemble underground sewer, water, reclaim, force main, and storm pipe
- Ensure trenches are properly excavated and shored
- Recognize property stakes, markers and elevations
- Position and level pipe to correct grade specifications with levels and lasers
- Adjust pipe lengths with power tools when necessary
- Connect and seal pipes to fittings/couplings with bolted restraints, gaskets, or lubricant
- Properly cover pipeline with backfill
- Install storm and sewer structures and connect to pipe systems per site plans
- Place lift stations and force mains
- Set up and accurately use pipe lasers, grade rods, and transits
- Build manhole inverts and mudding storm boxes
- Repair sewer and water pipe mains and laterals
- Prepare pipelines for inspections by assigned authorities
- Operate, maintain, wash, and fuel site equipment, pumps, and trucks
- Perform other various development tasks as needed
- Communicate effectively with site foreman and all crew members
- Understand site plans and participate in scheduling production
- Follow all OSHA safety rules and company policies at all times
Pipe Runner:
- Train, direct, and successfully work with tail man
- Ensure all safety requirements are followed
- Make sure area is properly prepared for installation
- Set up pipe laser and confirm pipe is on grade throughout pipe laying
- Align pipes per site plans
- Lead crew in steady workflow

Site development occurs outdoors in various types of weather conditions. This position requires strenuous physical activity for long periods of time. Applicants must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs. and stand or walk on uneven surfaces of different terrains. The worker should be able to securely grasp objects, reach out and above his shoulders, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull comfortably.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 - 10 years experience (Required)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Familiar with OSHA safety guidelines
- Reliable form of transportation to and from work
- Ability and experience laying deep sewer in wet conditions up to 25’
- Basic Masonry knowledge
- Problem-solving skills
- Good attitude and team player

- Heavy Equipment Operation
- Basic carpentry and welding
- Calculating grades
